Introduction – India’s FMCG and agricultural sectors offer unmatched growth opportunities. The country is one of the world’s largest exporters of rice (Basmati and non-Basmati), spices, pulses, sugar, fruits, vegetables, marine products, tea, and oil meals.
- In 2025, India lifted export restrictions on rice to support African and Asian markets, with the government targeting a doubling of agricultural and food exports — from USD 48 billion in FY2023–24 to USD 100 billion by 2030.
- India’s trade footprint is expanding across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Australia, reinforcing its role as a hub in global FMCG supply chains. For example, India–Africa trade reached USD 83 billion in 2024, with USD 45 billion in exports (including food and pharma) and USD 38 billion in imports (agricultural produce and minerals).
